Overpeck County Park
Bergen County, NJ
In 2002, the Teaneck Creek Conservancy Inc. and the Bergen County Parks Department began to establish a 46-acre environmental and cultural park as part of Overpeck Park.
Covering 367 acres, Overpeck County Park in Bergen County provides a multitude of recreational opportunities. The newly constructed state-of-the-art Palisades Park Sportsplex, the Bergen Equestrian Center, athletic fields and tracks, and picnic and fishing areas make this park an attractive option for area residents. The Henry Hoebel Area in Leonia has become extremely popular with joggers, in-line skaters and fitness walkers due to its double-looped paved and relatively level pathways.
The scope of work for Let It Grow included clearing and excavating the site. A drainage system was installed as well as a perimeter drain in concrete. We built asphalt and concrete sidewalks and walkways. We also installed 2 new state-of the art softball and baseball fields complete with clay mounds, warning tracks, foul poles, block elevated bleachers, pressbox, and scoreboards. The site project also included field drainage, field lighting, including light poles, all electrical conduits & wiring. We brought in all site furniture such as benches, picnic tables, trash receptacles, and flagpoles.
The second phase of our work included a vast irrigation installation of which Let It Grow, Inc. installed 200 irrigation zones that cover approximately 60 acres. The irrigation system installed was a Toro Sentinel satellite system with 3 satellite controllers and one central computer. The operator of the system can control the entire system via the central computer and monitor flow rates, leaks, zone operation, and other features. The 3” and 4” main lines will produce 800 to 1,000 gallons of water per minute at any given time.
